Just came back from Montreal. On our way out we saw a sign "Kill the bill, not grandma." Catchy, ey? Meanwhile, we go to Canada where EVERYONE has healthcare. How embarrassing. I can't help but think we're so stuck in a capitalist mindset of, "I work too hard to pay for someone else to get what I have." It really disgusts me.

I am writing from Germany, where I moved to two years ago, although shortly before leaving I qualified for Medicare. When I arrived I had only a travel medical insurance; now I have the required minimum 400 Euro job, which I need for one year to allow me to buy into the system, which is wonderful. And those healthcare reform opponents who call all universal healthcare systems in the rest of the world socialized medizine are dead wrong. Unlike American companies who pay all or nothing, here the company pays half and the employee pays half and the amount is based on income, which is fair and affordable, and the care one gets beats any care under the private insurance plan in the US. I know what I am talking about because I had that too and it was horrible. IT would be nice if those healthcare reform hatemongers knew what they were talking about.

Yawn! You're just another group with your nose of the current administration's a$$. Of course, the fact that you have MSNBC's Rachel Maddow in your corner, just makes it more apparent. By the way, really good turn out in DC on Saturday!! Wow, 20+. You are part of the problem, not the solution!

This site is hilarious.I'm spreading it around Facebook. I'm a medical doctor, and believe if we fail to provide single payer federal healthcare, it will be a pivotal failure that will further accelerate the weakening of America. There is nothing sacred about capitalized medicine. Medicine for profit is less moral than medicine motivated by helping people. In a democracy, we have at least theoretical power over our government. We have no power over private enterprise. Who do you want controlling the decisions your doctor makes? Private owned corps or people you can vote out of office? As a physician, let me re-assure you, your "private physician" has less power to make his/her own decisions than a govmt physician. I work for the VA now, and have more freedom to make decisions than when I was in private. This sentiment that a govmt run program takes away your doctor's freedons to practice is a tragic fallacy that too many believe.

Saw this on Rachel Maddow tonight. Still laughing. This is more effective than Obama's speeches. Very brainy and funny. I'm sure it convinced many of the 912ers. Please keep me informed.

I totally loved this specticalacularity. We need this and more more more. Finally, when you take it to the max, the truth is inescapable. Thank you to the bottom of the billionaires' hearts.
  • I actually was able to get onto the website finally, and read an actual article posted here. We have The Name of the Great Creator, and it is Andrew Boyd! Here's what the Examiner says:

Andrew Boyd, peace and social justice genius behind Billionaires Mockumentary Campaign

"I wanted to show Americans that our healthcare system is broken, that it's all about profits not patients, stated Andrew Boyd, co-founder and one of the three creative geniuses of the Billionaire for Wealthcare edutainment campaign.

"I wanted to get this message to the American public in a playful but effective way," he said today.

Boyd is an author, humorist, and a 20-year veteran of creative campaigns for social change.

In 2004, Boyd founded the media sensation "Billionaires for Bush." He is author of a few books including two books of "serious" humor published by W. W. Norton: Daily Afflictions and Life's Little Deconstruction Book.

Boyd's writing has appeared in The Nation, The Village Voice, Salon.com, Marie Claire, and elsewhere. For part of his bread and butter he's been training the next generation of creative activists.

Boyd is a founding partner of Agit-Pop Communications, a "subvertising" agency with award-winning flash animation and on-line video for environmental & social justice campaigns.

In 2008, Boyd co-produced The Oil Enforcement Agency, a mini-mockumentary. In 2009, he co-wrote and produced Stop the Clash of Civilizations that became the 2nd most discussed political video on Youtube.

It's actually a large team effort here at our Undisclosed Mansion. Andrew was a principle co-founder of Billionaires For Bush long ago, based on his earlier work with United for a Fair Economy and the Billionaires for Steve Forbes campaign in 1996, and then Billionaires For Bush (or Gore) in 2000. Billionaires For Wealthcare was started by a host of 'wildcat' chapters picking up the DIY model in places like Phoenix, AZ (Thanks Nick Collins (Dr. Dinero) and in DC (Yo Alex Lawson!), who, with Former Billionaire for Bush co-chair Marco Ceglie (Monet Oliver DePlace), initially came out against the teabaggers back at their April 15th tax-day action. The songs are the work of the ever-talented Cliff Tasner (Felonious Ax) in LA. and a large troupe of wonderful singers in both LA and NYC. There are a long line of gilded Billionaires in between who've helped steer our humble yacht (Thank you Elissa Jiji (Meg A. Bucks) and Melody Bates (Ivy League Legacy)!). But all in all the "Billionaires" are 'created' by hard work of passionate people all around the country. It is designed to be DIY. So use the tools we've put up on our Chapters and Be-A-Billionaire page. Join a local chapter or start your own. Hit these teabaggers everywhere they raise a misspelled sign and really speak truth to fear, anger and misinformation. And don't worry about dusting up that tux or denting that tiara, the Billionaires will have your back with signs, talking points and chants. Because when it comes to healthcare, if WE ain't broke, don't fix it!

Saw this on Maddow. You guys are fantastic; I'm trying to wrap my head around the group of people who would have the brilliance, energy, dedication AND talent to pull this off -- with great production quality to show for it, too. I've posted it all over my corner of the internet.
