On Wednesday, April 28, 2010, the Peter G. Peterson Foundation met with billionaires, millionaires and politicos at the Ronald Reagan Building in D.C. The day after the new Fiscal Commission held their first meeting, these leaders gathered in secret to devise ways to cut Social Security benefits (not the reason for the budget deficit) in the name of the federal budget deficit.

OUTSIDE the meeting, ‘Billionaires for Social Insecurity’ gathered to ask the public in a more outright fashion to hand over their Social Security checks.

“My ancestors, actually, weren’t on the Mayflower. They sent the servants over first to get the cottage ready.”

Haw haw haw haw haw! That’s from the Facebook page of J. Roby Penn IV, the 29-year-old oil-and-gas heir who serves as the mid-Atlantic director of the RNC’s Young Eagles program.
Also: “I believe in a purpose driven life… if life’s purpose is backgammon and tennis.”

And: “If you don’t have an oil well, get one.”

The Young Eagles, as you know, have helped throw the RNC into crisis after their trip to one of LA’s top bondage-themed nightclubs. But given the man-of-leisure persona cultivated by Penn, maybe it’s not so surprising that the group is used to being entertained in style.

The Billionaires for Wealthcare showered Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell with real bills on behalf of the insurance industry for the GOP’s extraordinary attempts to kill health care reform. The Billionaires met McConnell as he left his appearance on Face the Nation at CBS News in DC.

“Senator McConnell, thank you for all your hard work – here’s a little something extra from the insurance industry” The Billionaires shouted as they tossed their bills. “Vote ‘no’ to kill healthcare reform and there’s more on the way”

The event capped off the nation’s tumultuous health care debate, which saw every member of the GOP attempt to thwart reforms that would lower costs, increase access and end atrocious industry practices.

“We’ve been spending over $5 million per week to kill healthcare reform” said health insurance executive Clay M. Denyed. “We’re glad to finally go public with our support. Besides, confetti is cheap – we know that only money means anything to the GOP.”

Billionaires for Wealthcare made an appearance at the health care rally at Dupont Circle in Washington DC on March 9th 2010.

“The average income reported by the 400 highest-earning U.S. households grew to almost $345 million in 2007, up 31 percent from a year earlier, Internal Revenue Service statistics show.

The figures for 2007, the last year of an economic expansion, show that average income reported by the top 400 earners more than doubled from $131.1 million in 2001. That year, Congress adopted tax cuts urged by then-President George W. Bush that Democrats say disproportionately benefits the wealthy.”

TODAY: Bank CEOs Stand With Scott Brown for Standing With Wall Street

“Billionaires For Brown” Rally in Support of GOP Senate Candidate

Worcester, MA – A spirited crowd of the super wealthy called “Billionaires for Brown” toured the state today to support GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown for his staunch stand against Obama’s initiative to recover bailout funds from Wall Street.  The Billionaires lauded Brown for standing with Wall Street and against Main Street.  
 
“Of course Scott Brown stands with Wall Street.  Why should he be beholden to special interests like the Middle Class or the people of Massachusetts?” said Frida Market.  
 
Brown recently announced that he opposes a plan to repay money paid out to Wall Street Banks during the bailout.  The plan would return the 100 billion dollars left outstanding from TARP and other government programs.  
 
“People act like we should return the bailout money just because it’s theirs,” said Billie O. Nair. “Just because we CAUSED the crisis doesn’t mean we should be RESPONSIBLE for it”
 
Billionaires for Brown noted Scott Brown’s strong support from America’s super-wealthy, and defended him from charges of elitism.
 
“Scott Brown understands what it’s like to suffer in this crisis. Owning five separate properties is not cheap!” said Clay M. Denied.
 
The Billionaires also took a stance alongside Brown against social spending to offset the impact of the recession.  Dee Regulation summed up the GOP’s position: “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what your country can do for your bank executive.”
